Rachel - Thanks for the clarification regarding "docking". I asked the owner and it seems that Vegas is part black lab, part doberman, so clearly he felt there was no need for the procedure.

Derek - You know I have heard of it, but I forgot about it, so thanks for reminding me.

Gracie has made HUGE strides this weekend being off leash. She stayed off leash all day while I worked on a raise flower bed in the back yard. If I can just get her to mind me when she sees new people or pets, we'd be home free. :)

As for pictures, I'll have to post some after the Mexico pictures are posted.

Michael, have you taken Gracie out to the dog park in Franklin? It is fenced in so that you can take your dog off of their leash and let them play with other dogs. There are two seperate areas so that if needed, the smaller dogs can play in a different area from the big dogs. I highly suggest it.

re: ears - Dobermans (and several other breeds) can get what's called "docking" done to them to make their ears look perky. Sometimes it's done to tails too. It's not truly necessary except some people think it makes them look 'better'. If it's done right and early enough it's not a major operation. If Vegas is a mutt it's likely nobody felt it necessary to get his ears cropped - it's more of a purebreed/show ring thing.

Give Gracie a hug from me! When are you going to post more Gracie pix? :)
