I know this is an older posting but I can easily say that when I was contemplating designing high quality themes for MT, I noticed that Movable Type (sixapart) seems to have just let it sit and there has been no marketing effort. I looked at compete.com comparing their stats to wordpress.org and MT seems to be flatlining along the bottom. It's sad really because MT is in my opinion a lot better blog cms than WordPress. I do not know what they are doing over at Sixapart. I think they need to replace their complete marketing team.

I have noticed the same thing and found this post because I typed Movable Type community dead into Google. I thought with the release of MT 4.1 there would be all kinds of activity, but there is very little help being offered on the community support site. Even the Learning Movable Type which was such a big help in solving problems has had very little useful info lately. If this keeps I may have to switch to Wordpress, too.
