iPod as a radioThe holidays kept me running a good bit and now with the start of the year, I’ve been going 100 miles an hour and haven’t had a lot of time to write. In playing with the free music streaming service Pandora and having a quick chat with a friend about podcasts we listen to, I thought of a quick post that I thought I could squeeze in with today’s hectic schedule.

What Is Pandora?
It’s a really cool flash based music streaming service. You create your own radio station using an artist, or song that you like. From there, Pandora uses the Music Genome Project to match your choice with similar music. What’s unique about it is the fact that Pandora is comparing the music’s “DNA” and not on purchases, or other esoteric systems.

It’s hard to sum up how Pandora does this, but you can learn more about it in the “Inside The Net” podcast at this link. Suffice to say that I’m finding all kinds of new music and it’s like I have my own personalized radio station too. What’s unsettling is that Britney Spears keeps showing up in my playlist. :O

Is There A Podcast Version?
In talking with Justin today from PDALive, we were comparing our lists of podcasts that we listen to and it made me wish that there was podcast version of Pandora that would help me find new podcasts. Leo and Amber suggested the same thing in the “Inside The Net” podcast, but I think I found a solution – it’s called friendship!

It’s the same way that we find new restaurants and movies to go see; we talk to friends. So to get the ball rolling, here’s a list of the podcasts that I listen to. If you have a recommendation of a podcast that you think I should be listening to, post a comment, or trackback to let me know about it.
