Making Progress

It’s been about a month since Gracie passed and things are getting a little better. Our friends and family have been very supportive in helping either by checking in on us, or not when we’re slow to respond. Personally, I’ve found it very difficult to return phone calls for some reason.

Overall, we’ve gotten through the worst of the grief and gratitude is starting to return. We’re grateful that she’s not suffering, even though it means she can’t be with us, and we’re grateful that she wasn’t in any pain.

Say Goodnight Gracie

On Friday, December 8th at 10:30am, our dog Gracie passed away from congestive heart failure. She was one-in-a-million and blessed our lives for over 14 and-a-half years. We couldn’t have asked for a better dog and we were sorry to see her go but it was her time and, thankfully, she went peacefully.

She was born with a heart murmur and we knew that, in time, it would probably present a major issue as she grew older. Although she had overcome a tumor on her stomach over 3-years ago, we learned early this summer that her murmur had become a major issue. Thanks to the overwhelming support and stellar care provided by Dr. Courtney Merrow, DVM at PedMed and the staff at Blue Pearl we did everything we could to prolong her life as long as possible. Unfortunately, her body stopped responding to the diuretics, as we were told they would, and the fluid build-up became too much. With no more remaining options, we put her to sleep.

My View This Morning

After having all the snow melt over the past week, we were treated to a nice light snowfall yesterday afternoon and evening. Looking out my bathroom window this morning, this is the view that was waiting for me.

My Wish List

It’s that time of year again when we buy loved ones gifts for the holidays. When given a gift, I’m often told “I didn’t know what to get you, but I hope you like it.” Of course ANY gift is such a fantastic gesture, that it doesn’t matter what the actual gift is. However, I […]

Meme(me)

Yet another post inspired by FiatLux. It was hard not to edit the photo before posting, but what the hell… 1. Take a picture of yourself right now. 2. Don’t change your clothes, don’t fix your hair… just take a picture. 3. Post that picture with NO editing. 4. Post these instructions with your picture.

Credit Where Credit Is Due

A virtual high five for Fred!I’ve been writing a lot the past week about my migration to the MacBook. During this migration, I’ve had a lot of help along the way from fellow Mac friends. However, it became clear to me that there was one person that I failed to thank and I need to right this wrong.

During my initial diving into Mac OS, Mike Rohde and Justin Nolan gave me a lot of assistance. Having them both online so that I could assault them with questions was a big help for me. For some of the more obscure questions related to Parallels and Windows-ish questions, Hal-J was a great lifeline. Yet none of these questions would have been possible without the years of gentle council and guidance of my Mac-Zen guru Fred Heumann.
