I just can’t seem to leave well enough alone. Every morning, after I post my entry, I have a tendency to tweak the site here and there. There’s always a little something that needs to be added, nipped, or tucked.
A few days ago, I stumbled across a site that is a Movable Type tweakers dream. It’s called empty pages. I can’t tell who the author of the site is. The only thing I’ve found were her initials when she posts a comment, which is BMK, but she is a very knowledgeable person, both in php and MT.
So this is a great site to find some cool tips, tricks, or scripts to add stuff to your weblog. Google brought me to the site after I did a search for adding page views to MT. I had tried various PERL and PHP scripts, but never quite found the right script. When I came across BML’s “Page Views” script, it was just what the doctor ordered! It was easy to install and after including the script on the navigation sidebar, it now provides a pageview count for each page on the weblog. I went back and tallied the page views from the server stats log for the major pages and I was done.
Once down the rabbit hole, you find more and more interesting little tweaks that you can do. Thanks to a helpful nammer in the MT Support Forums, I found another handy little script. Scriptygoddess wrote a script called “Show recent comments WITH total comments from that comment author” It’s a mouthful of a title, but a very simple script. What it does is show the total number of comments made by an author whenever they make a post. It’s a little thing, but I like it. 😀
By now you’ve no doubt heard about the
As everyone who reads this weblog must know by now, I love Palm OS handhelds. So, it was only natural that I would try and find a way to manage my weblog via my ever present
As a child, I was always the smallest, skinniest one. Everyone was bigger than me. I’m not kidding, everyone. My father was 6 feet tall, so I kept waiting and waiting for this big growth spurt to happen so that I could tower over everyone I grew up with. High school came and went and no spurt. Then in college I figured I’d pretty much topped out at 5′ 10″ and that the spurt wasn’t ever going to happen. I was wrong. Since we’re three dimensional beings, growth can happen in many directions. My growth spurt did start in college, but instead of it making me grow vertically, I began growing horizontally. In other words, I started getting fat. 😛 Up until my senior year in high school, I was very active in soccer and other activities. Weight had never been a problem, so I could eat anything I wanted. Just before Christmas 1984 I broke both my knees (that a whole other story) and after that, I had to give up soccer and most activities involving running. I just couldn’t take the stress to the knees. So, after that accident my level of activity dropped significantly. When I was in college, I was either pounding the books, or sitting in a practice room playing my trumpet. Not a lot of activity, but I never really got too heavy, just a little out of shape.
My television viewing habits have changed a lot this past year. Used to be that I was totally hooked on the
I stumbled upon the stroopwafel some 10 years ago back in Baton Rouge. Coffee shops where just beginning to blossom around the United States and people weren’t quite sure what to make of them. In fact, I remember the first time I walked into
When I was a kid, I used to believe that dogs were male and cats were female. I thought that dogs and cats got married, just like people do, and when they had babies, they had puppies and kittens. I’m not making this up, I firmly believed this. When my parents explained to me that this was not the case, I was crestfallen. As a child, that belief was not just a whimsical thought, but a governing rule of the universe, just like gravity. Of course, I also still believed in the Easter Bunny. 🙂 With all the
